My name is Ken Brenner and I am running for Colorado State Senate.
I am the right person to represent you because of my diverse background. I am fourth generation Colorado and third generation from the Yampa River Valley in Routt County. I grew up on a large farm and ranch so I understand the issues facing our agricultural community and what rural western values are. I worked two years in the engineering department of the largest coal producing mine in Colorado at the time. I have provided therapy for chronic pain and injuries through my Performance Sports Medicine business. I have been both a professional and volunteer coach since 1980 for many sports, everything from alpine ski racing and Tae Kwon Do to track and field. I am an avid outdoorsman and have climbed 35 of the 14,000 foot peaks. The last fifteen years have been about public service. As a City Council member and County Planning Commission member I under stand the challenges of addressing growth related issues from the local government perspective. I focused on water, housing and land use policies. Through partnerships of city, county, state and federal government as well as private, public and nonprofit sectors we can work together to meet the challenges facing Northwest Colorado.
The Northwest region of our state is experiencing unprecedented growth that is affecting our quality of life, communities and outdoor recreation lifestyle. The Denver Metro area is anxious to take more of our western water that we will need to meet our future demands. The energy industry is rapidly expanding natural gas production and we are feeling the effects. We must balance good paying jobs and energy production with safeguards for public health, air/water quality, wildlife habitat, and our pristine landscape. We must fully collect the taxes due from energy development to pay for the impacts to our communities and reimburse Colorado for minerals severed for private profit. We must ensure a quality education for our children and create a health care system that is affordable and accessible to every Coloradoan.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns. I want to represent you.
